Who Will be the American Idol for 2008?

It is David Archuleta VS David Cook in the finals. I was not surprised by that because these two have a strong fanbase. They were never in the bottom three, remember? Let me analyze these two.

Vocals - David A. gets my vote. He can turn any songs sound heavenly. Like what Randy Jackson said, if you can sing it doesn't matter what genre you can deliver it.

Personality - David A. has a sweet, charming and shy type personality while David C. is quiet, humble and serious type personality. David A got my vote because he's likeable. Always smiling, never offended if judges give bad criticisms, probably gets hurt sometimes but he sure knows how to handle it.

Fanbase - Both has strong fanbase. David C. has the edge because he's good-looking:)I'm not saying that David A is not but he's more cute. Got it?

Originality - David C. is far more creative and original than David A.

Simon Cowell's prediction is that David Cook will win. One thing I'm sure, it will be a close fight. For the performance night, there's no room for mistakes.

Who do you think will win?

Vanessa Carlton

Last saturday, I had a chance to watch Vanessa Carlton perform live in concert in Ayala Mall, Makati Philippines. She is an amazing pianist and pop rock singer. She made her fans happy by singing "A Thousand Miles". The audience were having a blast. It is her most popular song. It was nominated in Grammy Awards as Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist in 2002. Another song I love is "Pretty Baby".

Madonna Decena

Last night I was watching TV and Madonna Decena, a Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist was featured. She is an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) in UK. This morning I saw her YouTube video, she was amazing. She sang Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" beautifully and effortlessly. The audience gave her standing ovation. The judges were touched when she told them the reason she joined the contest-- she wants to be with her kids. This is one of the sacrifices an OFW has to take -- to be away from their families. I hope she reach the finals.

Bye Ramiele

I'm sure Ramiele's fans were very very sad when she was eliminated last night in American Idol. In one of her interviews, she said she had a feeling that she will be out of the competition. I also had that feeling because for past weeks she never found her niche (again). Her unforgettable performance was when she sang "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me". From then on, judges expected a lot from her and she was not able to please them. I think one of the reasons was she struggled with the theme/genre assigned every week. The only consolation for the fans is that Ramiele will join the Top 9 for the national tour. Ramiele has a very good voice. I hope she visits the Philippines and realize how she is admired by the Filipinos. Ramiele, continue to pursue your dreams. Good riddance.

Connie Talbot

Last week, my officemate showed me a video of Connie Talbot, a 6 yr old contestant last year in Britain's Got Talent. What can I say? She sings like an angel. It has touched my heart and makes me want to cry. She sang beautifully. Simon Cowell who is hard to please said Connie was pitch perfect. She reached the finals but did not win. Well, it's ok. She is very young and her talent in singing can still be develop.

Check her video. Let your heart melt to her angelic face and voice.

A Disappointment

Last night's American Idol show was a disappointment. My two favorite contestants had a worst performance. As I was watching the show I began to feel excited and nervous. I can’t wait to see the performance of Ramiele Malubay and David Archuleta. I have mentioned in my last post that song choice is very crucial and it was. Ramiele' song is boring. Like Randy, I was waiting for her to do something that would showcase her talent but sad to say she might be in the bottom three. She has a great voice and she can do better than that. Hope she learn from last night's mistakes.
David Archuleta has the worst performance of his life when he forgot the lyrics not just once, no not just twice but four times. And why did he choose that song? Simon perfectly described his performance when he said that it was a mess. Anyway, David has a huge fan base and I'm sure he will not be voted off tonight.Who I think will be voted off? It will be Kristy Lee Cook. It was a wrong choice of song. She tried to infuse country style melody to the song but it was horrible. Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers for Ramiele.

American Idol Final 12

I was not surprised that Danny Noriega, Luke Menard, Kady Malloy and Asia'h Epperson were eliminated. They didn't find their niche. Simon was right, Kady Malloy is forgettable. Danny Noriega' personality is interesting but his vocals not good enough to send him to the finals. Luke Menard got the looks and the talent but he doesn't have charisma. His choice of songs was not good. I Think Asia'h Epperson could have made it to the finals if she chose a song that will challenge her vocally. Her song yesterday was safe. I'm thrilled that Mariele Malubay got a spot in the finals. I hope she will be wise in choosing songs. Randy was right. She sings like she was thinking about the lyrics or some stuff. I think she was conscious on how to project herself. Just flow Mariele and enjoy the moment. You have the talent.

Fil-Am Ramiele Malubay

I'm glad that Mariele Malubay was not cut from last night's show. Well, most ofthe girls had a wrong choice of song but the result is always unpredictable. I'm a fan of Ramiele not only because I'm a Filipino but her voice is amazing. Her performance of "You Don't have to Say You Love Me" was very impressive. All of the judges ( yes, even Simon) gave her kudos. The way she projected herself. What I also like about her is she's a FASHIONISTA. I like her style and her personality. I'm rooting for her. Go, Ramiele. Pursue your dream. I'm sure Filipinos are all over the world are cheering you on.
